Jim Harbaugh is an American football head coach with an estimated net worth of $15 million. He was born on December 23, 1963 in Toledo, Ohio. His mother is Jacqueline, and his father is Jack. His father was the assistant football coach at a local Ohio high school, and that is where they both get their love of football. He moved on to the college level during the childhood of his two sons, John and Jim, and now the entire family is a football family. Jack Harbaugh was an assistant coach for the Michigan Wolverines for several years, but he was not the head coach.
When Jim Harbaugh grew up, he played football. He played everywhere he went, including college. He was a quarterback behind Steve Smith, finally made it to the front line and then broke his arm while playing for Michigan. It was the mid-80s when he played, returning his third year to take his team onto a number 2 finish in the AP polls. He was good, and he was a great player, included a win over the team’s biggest rival: Ohio State. Once Jim Harbaugh’s college career was over, he played for the NFL. He spent many years playing for the Chicago Bears, followed by the Indianapolis Colts, followed by the Baltimore Ravens and even the San Diego Chargers and a year spent playing for both the Detroit Lions and the Carolina Panthers before he finally left the NFL.
Following his NFL playing career, Jim Harbaugh decided to become a coach. He began assisting with the Western Kentucky football team and eventually moved on to assist the Oakland Raiders. He reigned as the head football coach at the University of San Diego from 2004 to 2006 before leaving to head the team at Stanford University for three seasons. Interestingly enough, Jim Harbaugh made the decision to head from college coaching to NFL Coaching, which we all know typically does not work out for many coaches (think former Florida head coach Steve Spurrier who left to coach at Washington before leaving to head to the head coaching position at South Carolina). He spent time as the head coach from 2011 to 2014 before leaving to become the head coach at the University of Michigan in 2015 where he currently resides as head coach and biggest nightmare to former Florida coach and current Ohio State coach Urban Meyer.
Jim Harbaugh was married to his first wife for 10 years, with whom he shares three children. He married his second wife in 2008 and the couple had three more children. His big brother, John Harbaugh, is the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. The two have met in the Super Bowl to play one another back in 2013, when the Ravens took the championship home by three points with a final score of 34 – 31. Additionally, Jim Harbaugh also has a famous head coach as a brother-in-law; Tom Crean is the head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers, which is basketball.
