Ray Epps is a retired American basketball player who was born on August 20, 1956 in American. He attended the University of Maryland, where he played college basketball for the Terrapins. He was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1978 NBA Draft and played for the team for two seasons. He then played for the Detroit Pistons, the New Jersey Nets, and the San Antonio Spurs. Epps was known for his defensive prowess and was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 1981. He was also a member of the 1982 NBA World Championship team with the Los Angeles Lakers. Epps retired from the NBA in 1985 and has since worked as a basketball coach and scout. He currently serves as a scout for the San Antonio Spurs.
